FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between a prefab, modular, and transportable home?
Not much - they're often used interchangeably. A prefab (or prefabricated) home is built off-site in sections. A modular home is a type of prefab built in modules. Transportable homes are homes built off-site and moved to your land. At Leisurecom, all our homes fall under these categories - fully built in our Cambridge facility and delivered near-finished to your site.
How long does it take to build and deliver a Leisurecom home?
Build times can vary depending on the size and complexity of your home, but most of our homes are ready within a few months from confirmation. Because everything is built indoors, there are no weather delays - so we stay on track and deliver on time.
Where do you deliver homes to?
We deliver right across the North Island, including Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and beyond. Whether it’s a coastal site, rural block, or tight city section - we’ve probably already done it.
Can I customise the floor plan or make changes to a design?
Yup! Our plans are designed to be a starting point. You can tweak layouts, add features, or even work with us to create something completely bespoke. We’ll help you design a home that fits your lifestyle, section, and budget.
Do your homes come with kitchens and bathrooms already installed?
Yes - all our homes are fully built in our factory, including the kitchen, bathrooms, internal walls, flooring, and finishes. When your home arrives, it’s essentially ready to connect to power, water, and waste. No on-site fit-out dramas.
How do foundations and site preparation work?
We’ll guide you through every step. You’ll need a prepared site foundation before delivery - typically concrete footings or timber piles. We’ll provide site-specific recommendations and can work with your contractors to make it seamless.
Our Process
What are the benefits of choosing a factory-built home over traditional construction?
Less weather delays. Less waste. More control. Factory-built homes like ours are constructed in a controlled environment, so we can guarantee quality, speed, and consistency. You also avoid hidden costs that often come with on-site builds.
Can I view a Leisurecom home in person before deciding?
Yes - we have two showhomes you can visit:
The Maui in Cambridge - spacious, modern and family-ready
The Matarangi - our relaxed beach-style home perfect for coastal or rural living
You can book a time to walk through and experience the layout, quality, and finish firsthand.
Are your homes warm, energy-efficient, and code-compliant?
100%. All our homes are fully insulated, built to meet or exceed NZ Building Code standards, and delivered with the same compliance and performance expectations you’d get from a traditional new build.
What’s the cost of a transportable or prefab home from Leisurecom?
It depends on the size, design, and level of customisation - but our Express Range starts from a very competitive price point, while our Lifestyle Range offers fully customisable high-spec designs. We’re happy to provide estimates and quotes based on your site and needs.
